SA began the series with a convincing victory in Delhi when they chased down a 212-run target. In the victory, David Miller and Rassie van der Dussen each scored half-centuries.
Following a run-fest in Delhi, the India-South Africa T20I series will shift to Cuttack for the second game. Both sides arrived in the city less than 24 hours after the first game and played on Saturday (June 11). Because Cuttack hasn’t held a fixture in some years, nothing is known about the track that will be utilised for the event. It’s a T20I contest, therefore the pitch should once again help the batting.
SA may not make any changes to their starting XI for the second T20I. Even though their bowlers struggled in the first game, the Indian bowlers also let up a lot of runs, allowing the visitors to win. Aiden Markram, who tested positive for COVID-19 before the Delhi T20I, will continue to be missed by SA.
India’s starting XI is unlikely to change significantly. However, following a poor showing in Delhi, Axar Patel may be forced to sit out. If Axar is benched, Ravi Bishnoi could have an opportunity. The hitters performed an excellent job and built up a total of 211 runs, thus an unchanged batting line-up is expected.
The Men in Blue haven’t won a match against South Africa since 2022, and they have a difficult task to break their losing skid. South Africa has won all six of its matches against India this year (2 Tests, 3 ODIs, and 2 T20Is). The odds are stacked against India in the absence of its four top players, and they will need a concerted effort to halt South Africa’s unbeaten streak.
