In a development that has sent shockwaves across global gaming, Apex Legends and FIFA 21 publisher EA Games’ system has been compromised and hackers have stolen valuable information, the company said.

Through various posts, the hackers have taken to underground hacking forums and claimed “You have full capability of exploiting on all EA services.”

The hackers also disclosed that they have stolen source code of the popular sports game FIFA 21, as well as code for its matchmaking server, along with source code and tools for the Frostbite engine that controls various EA Games title including Battlefield.

That’s not all, the hackers have also stolen information including proprietary EA frameworks and software development kits (SDKs), bundles of code, with 780 GB worth data being compromised.

EA has confirmed to Motherboard that it had suffered a data breach and shared that no player data has been compromised.

“We are investigating a recent incident of intrusion into our network where a limited amount of game source code and related tools were stolen. No player data was accessed, and we have no reason to believe there is any risk to player privacy. Following the incident, we’ve already made security improvements and do not expect an impact on our games or our business. We are actively working with law enforcement officials and other experts as part of this ongoing criminal investigation,” an EA spokesperson told Motherboard in a statement.

Currently, the forums used by the hackers have advertised the stolen data for sale.
