Chhattisgarh HC delivers verdict on Dammani bros bail application in Mahadev App case

The Chhattisgarh High Court has delivered its verdict in the case involving the Mahadev App scandal. The bail plea of the accused hawala traders, Anil Dammani and Sunil Dammani, has been dismissed. Justice NK Chandravanshi presided over the court’s ruling.

As reported by Zee News, prior to this, the court had kept the decision reserved after the completion of the hearing. The hearing took place at the Bilaspur High Court on Wednesday.

Earlier, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested both brothers in connection with the Mahadev app case. Following their arrest, they had filed a bail plea at the ED’s special court in Raipur, which was rejected. Subsequently, the brothers approached the High Court against this decision.

The Dammani brothers are accused of involvement in a multi-million hawala racket concerning the Mahadev Satta app. Consequently, both were arrested at the end of August. On the 23rd of August, the ED conducted raids in Raipur and Durg under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, resulting in the arrest of hawala traders Anil and Sunil Dammani, along with ASI Chandra Bhushan Verma and Satish Chandrakar. Presently, all accused individuals are in judicial custody.

Following the arrests, the ED had sought remand for all the accused, interrogating them during two separate remand periods. Due to the rejection of their bail, they were placed in judicial custody. Whether they will remain in jail or be released is contingent upon the court’s forthcoming decision. The final decision regarding their status awaits the court’s pronouncement.
