Indore: IPL betting allegations on BJP leaders

IPL betting Indore

As an enthralling action continues in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), 2023, illegal gambling and betting activities also seem to be on the rise. On Friday, April 7, Indore’s city police arrested four people who were allegedly involved in betting on IPL match between Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The incident took place near Devi Ahilyabai Holkar International Airport in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Congress leaders are currently accusing BJP MLAs after the names of MLA Raghunath Singh Malviya, MLA representative and former market director Tej Singh Mewada post Indore Crime Branch’s raid.

Former state secretary of Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee, Rakesh Singh Yadav, recently tweeted to state CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan talking about the situation and claiming that the names of BJP leaders were removed from the report.

Yadav wrote, “What traditions are being followed by MLA Raghunath Singh Malviya, and MLA representative and former market director Tej Singh Mewada in BJP by becoming IPL satta king.”

“Will the party show the courage to file an FIR against Ashta MLA Raghunath Singh Malviya, MLA representative Tej Singh Mewada or, will the whole matter be subdued?” he further wrote.

Rakesh Singh Yadav believes that there is a need for proper inquiry into the current IPL betting scandal. He said that the CM should have an external agency investigate the entire matter, although the hope of a fair investigation is almost zero due to the involvement of BJP leaders.
