The four member committee headed by retired Madras High Court Justice K.Chandru on Monday submitted its report to the Tamil Nadu on banning online rummy game in the State.

Soon after the committee submitted its report to Chief Minister M.K.Stalin at the Secretariat, the state government said the action to be taken based on the recommendations of the committee would be discussed at a meeting of the State Cabinet later today.
The Cabinet is likely to take a decision on promulgating an Ordinance banning online rummy game, which has become political hot topic in the state.
It may be recalled that amid a spate of suicides due to loss of money in online rummy game, the Tamil Nadu government had on June 10, constituted the panel to suggest measures to promulgate an Ordinance to ban it. The two-week timeline given for the committee ended last week.
The Committee examined the adverse effects of online rummy and made their recommendations. “Considering the urgent need for finding a solution to the social problem (online rummy), an Ordinance will soon be promulgated based on the recommendations of the Committee”, Stalin was quoted by UNI. He added that the law would be a model law for other states to emulate.
