Shah Rukh Khan in trouble over online rummy ad; police deployed outside ‘Mannat’

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has landed in trouble after featuring in an advertisement for ‘A23‘, an online rummy site. Reportedly, protestors were outside his house ‘Mannat’ in Mumbai’s Bandra (West) region. They were angry after the actor featured in an ad that makes the public addictive.

While this is not the first time that a celebrity has endorsed online rummy, SRK’s name is among the biggest. Taking a swift action against the same, tight police and security forces were deployed outside the actor’s house. A video of the police being attentive outside ‘Mannat’ also went viral on Instagram.

According to Jagran, the ‘Untouch India Foundation’ led the dissent outside King Khan’s residence. The president of the foundation told that such ads corrupt the youth’s mindset, and makes them addicted to these risky games. He also took a jibe at actors like Ajay Devgn and Annu Kapoor, who endorse Junglee Rummy.

Bollywood stars are misleading the young generation: Untouch India President

“The new generation is involved in playing Junglee rummy. If someone is playing Junglee rummy or gambling outside, the police arrest them, but big Bollywood stars promoting online games are misleading the young generation. The Bollywood stars also know it is wrong, but they are getting money so they are promoting them. We make these stars famous by watching their movies and spending our money on them. We demand these advertisements to stop. These apps are illegal, we can not find them on Google, but these apps are uploaded on private web sites.”

The president further said that apart from Shah Rukh Khan, they wanted to protest outside other actors’ residences as well, but the police resisted them. Such protests are not uncommon, especially in Maharashtra, as even politicians have asked celebrities not to promote such platforms.

While online rummy sites are legal as declared by the Hon’ble Supreme Court, it is up to the users to play with due diligence and consider the element of financial risk involved. In fact, it is advisable that one plays with only as much money as they can afford to lose.
