Casinos in Nepal have remained shut since 19 March 2020 due to rising Covid-19 cases in the country. Like Goa and Sikkim in India, the curbs on the casino industry have led to economic devastation in the tourism industry.
Earlier last week, a delegation comprising members of the Travel & Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG) met chief minister Pramod Sawant, requesting him to fully open up the entertainment sector.
The state government also extended the curfew till the 16th of August, 2021. This stringency is a measure to control the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic with no extra relaxations.
