BGMI crosses 50 mn downloads mark on Google Play Store

Published on:

Within less than two months of its debut, Battlegrounds Mobile India has been downloaded 50 million times from Google Play Store in India. The company announced this major milestone in its journey by gifting a ‘Galaxy Messenger Set’ permanent outfit to all players in addition to some other rewards.

Earlier this month, Krafton, the South Korea-based game developer, announced some special rewards for the 50 million downloads mark. However, we cannot say that BGMI’s milestone is surprising because PUBG too led the track with wide acceptance and massive popularity before its ban in India.

Before its prohibition, PUBG saw the face of fame with over 180 million downloads and a user base of 33 million in India alone. It crossed 1 billion downloads worldwide in March this year.

While speaking over the achievement, Wooyol Lim, Head of BGMI Division at Krafton, said, “We are delighted to be a part of this celebration, made even sweeter with Battlegrounds Mobile India hitting 50M downloads on Play Store in just over a month. I am looking forward to an equally strong response to our first e-sports tournament starting next month.”

BGMI is celebrating the “Independence Day Mahotsav” from August 11 to August 20 for players to win rewards. Furthermore, the company also added that the players could unlock new missions ahead of Independence Day.

To strengthen its position, Krafton also put forth its plan to reveal the iOS version of the game pretty soon.
