FIFAe: India to play Italy, Netherlands in group stage of Nations Cup 2022

India has been drawn in Group D of FIFAe Nations Cup 2022 alongside Netherlands, Poland, Italy, Mexico and Morrocco after the official draw was held in Zurich, Switzerland on July 4.

The Indian team comprising Charanjot Singh, Siddh Chandarana, and Saransh Jain etched their names in the history books by qualifying for the FIFAe Nations Cup for the first time. The esports showcase event will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark from July 14 to July 30, 2022. The Indian efootball team’s adventure began in January 2021, when the AIFF and FIFA inked a participation agreement for the FIFAe Nations Series 2021.

The FIFAe Nations Cup is the international football governing body’s (FIFA) official inter-nation esports football competition. Gamers play in a 2v2 format along with a substitute. France won the inaugural FIFAe Nations Cup in 2020 by beating Argentina in the final in London.

FIFAe starts with the FIFAe World Cup presented by EA SPORTS from the 14 to 17 July; FIFAe Club World Cup presented by EA SPORTS from the 20 to 23 July, and ending with the FIFAe Nations Cup presented by EA SPORTS from the 27 to 30 July – will be hosted back-to-back over three consecutive weeks in Copenhagen.

In the FIFAe Nations Series 2022 playoffs, India defeated the Korean Republic and Malaysia in the Asia Pacific region to qualify for the FIFAe Nations Cup 2022.

The FIFAe Nations Series kicks off at a domestic level, with FIFA’s member associations offering their communities to compete amongst each other and find the most competitive athletes within the country. The competition has $1.2 million in prize money up for grabs.
