Ashneer Grover’s Third Unicorn launches cricket fantasy sports app CrickPe

Published on:

Entrepreneur Ashneer Grover has entered the fantasy sports industry with the launch of CRICKPE, a fantasy sports and gaming platform. Ashneer broke the news through a post on his social media handles on Thursday, March 23, stating it was the second-biggest revolution in cricket.

The launch of this platform is just ahead of the marquee Indian Premier League, which is scheduled to commence on Friday, March 31. CRICKPE will compete directly with giants like Dream11, My11Circle, MPL, etc.

Third Unicorn Pvt. Ltd. is the parent company of CRICKPE app, founded in 2022 by Ashneer Grover and his wife Madhuri Jain Grover, shortly after the former’s exit from the board of BharatPe.

The fantasy app allows players over 18 to sign up and play on its platform. Like competitors, CRICKPE also earns revenue through its platform fee on paid contests, which is set to 10 percent, per moneycontrol’s report.

The model of the app is similar to other fantasy platforms, wherein a user can create a virtual team of players during a game and enter contests to win prizes based on their rankings in the contest. Free practice contests are also available on the platform for players looking to sharpen their skills.

Earlier in February 2023, the news regarding CrickPe’s incorporation surfaced and got the first hint of its launch ahead of the cricketing season. As per the info on its official website, the points system of the fantasy game will give 1 point for each run scored and 25 points for a wicket during the IPL.

With the cricketing season right around the corner, the platform will look to gain user traction and will want to continue the same for the ODI World Cup scheduled to be played later in 2023.
