Andhra Pradesh: Police bust gambling racket; arrest 22

According to a Times of India report, Nallapadu police in Guntur city cracked down on a gambling racket on Sunday and nabbed 22 people.

The police have registered a case against them under relevant sections of the IPC and also invoked The Gambling Act against them. Acting on a tip-off on the racket, cops carried out a house at Sambasivaraopet area and caught the accused red-handed while gambling. 

Police have confiscated 1.84 lakh in cash, 22 mobile phones and 10 vehicles. A case of criminal breach of trust has been filed. The police force has amped up its focus on curbing gambling activities with various states in India taking a tough stance on gambling.

The Indian gambling laws restrict the operation of gambling, with gambling being authorized in specific states, including Goa, Sikkim, and Daman. Other states like Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra have banned all forms of online gambling, while Kerala and Karnataka have only prohibited games of chance.
