Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma bashes Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel for active involvement in Mahadev Book betting racket

Published on:

Assam CM and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Himanta Biswa Sarma recently addressed a rally in Rajim, Chhattisgarh. Addressing the rally, Sarma made scathing attacks on the state CM Bhupesh Baghel for running Mahadev Book’s illegal betting racket.

Mahadev Book app carries the name of a Hindu God, and has been actively operating betting network across the globe. Accusing Baghel, Sarma says that Lord Mahadev will not forgive him for doing a scam in his name. He claimed that the betting racket is a potential reason for Baghel’s loss in the first phase of the elections.

“He (Bhupesh Baghel) done scam in the name of Mahadev, now Lord Mahadev won’t leave you… Bhupesh Baghel time has come for you to repay… Congress has failed in the first phase of the Chhattisgarh election and in the second phase also you (Congress) will lose,” Sarma said in a post shared by ANI.

Enforcement Directorate’s active probe in Mahadev Book case unveils key information

Ever since the Enforcement Directorate (ED) started investigation and booked several of the operatives running the illegal betting network, multiple names of people close to CM Baghel have surfaced.

Recently, ED caught a person named Asim Das who was allegedly transporting money through hawala channel for Mahadev Book operatives. Das, in his statement, said that the money was for ‘Baghel Ji’. More recently, a video surfaced where a man claimed to be the owner of the entire betting network. He claimed that CM Baghel was also involved and has received crores in bribe from Mahadev Book operatives.

It is worth mentioning that nothing has been proven yet, as the matter is still under investigation. However, BJP leaders have started taking a jibe at Congress Govt in Chhattisgarh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also opined about the state of betting scene in Chhattisgarh under Congress rule. Modi said that the Congress leaders have spread gambling addiction among the youth in the state.

Dabur Group’s alleged involvement with Mahadev Book; Company terms the act as mischievous

Elsewhere, several other states have also registered FIR against multiple people for being involved with the illegal betting app. Mumbai Police alone registered FIR against 31 individuals, two of them reportedly are Dabur Group Chairman Mohit Burman and Director Gaurav Burman.

However, Dabur’s accused personnel said that the claims are completely false. They stated it as ‘a mischievous act driven by malicious intent and is devoid of any facts’. Dabur’s spokesperson said that they haven’t received news of any FIR.

“We categorically deny the allegations and firmly believe that a thorough investigation will vindicate our position and demonstrate the unfounded nature of these allegations. We trust that the legal process will unveil the true nature of this malicious attempt to tarnish our reputation,” the spokesperson said.
