Betrue Ecom Solutions Pvt. Ltd. and its directors have been apprehended by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday for their involvement in illegal online sports betting and gambling with the help of Philippines-based online web platform, Dafasports.

The directors of the company Yogesh Kumar and Rakesh Prasad Gupta have been taken into custody for further investigation in the case. A preliminary enquiry of the Karol Bagh-based company has revealed that it is suspected to have connections with dafasports and dafabet.

Between March 2, 2019 and May 31, 2019, the CBI found large amounts of transactions (Rs. 23.33 crore of withdrawals and Rs. 23.37 crore of deposits) in the company’s account. Coincidentally it was the the time during which the IPL was taking place.

Further inquiry has revealed that illegal gambling and betting was taking place using services from dafabet.com but it was disguised as online trading of footwear as per the documents submitted to the Registrar of Companies and the bank.

The link between Dafabet and Betrue Ecom Solutions Pvt. Ltd. is alleged by CBI as the statement provided by the depositor showed a transaction of a specific amount in the account of dafabet.com which was later credited in the account of Betrue Ecom Solutions Pvt. Ltd.

The CBI claims that Dafabet.com is an outlet for online sports betting and gambling which is being operated from Makati in the Philippines. According the company website Dafabet was founded back in 2004 and has more than 1000 employees. “The website offers online betting and gambling and also accepts payments in Indian Rupees,” the CBI said.

Several UPI transactions have been made with names Dafabet, Dafa Sports and Dafabetupd. A large number of users from across the country are using Dafabet for online betting and gambling with the most number of users from Andhra Pradesh, the findings of the preliminary enquiry given in the FIR said.
