ED to interrogate Ranbir Kapoor, summon celebs for attending Mahadev Book owner’s wedding

ED Mahadev Book Ranbir Kapoor

Mahadev Book is undoubtedly the biggest illegal betting network in India with numerous platforms under its belt. Despite multiple arrest of Mahadev Book operatives in Chhattisgarh and some other states, the illegitimate operations remained active. This prompted the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to take over and further escalate the investigation.

Later, ED arrested a few small operatives, while also exposing the app’s hawala network. The hawala channel had its roots in Dubai, UAE, where the operatives sent the money to the kingpins.

ED also found out about the wedding event of mastermind Saurabh Chandrakar an event management firm handled the preparations. The wedding took place in Dubai, where Chandrakar is believed to be operating the betting network from.

This event management firm was paid over Rs 100 crore through these hawala channels. These payments included celebrity invitations and travel for Chandrakar’s family through private jets.

In a video of the wedding ceremony, several big celebrities were spotted performing on the stage. These included stars like Tiger Shroff, Sunny Leone, Bhagyashree, Kriti Kharbanda, and Nushrratt Bharuccha. The list did not end there, though. Vishal Dadlani, Pulkit Samrat, Neha Kakkar along with comedians Bharti and Krushna were also spotted.

All of these celebrities are expected to be summoned by ED for interrogation very soon. The officials have already visited the premises of their managers and seized Rs 2.5 crore for further investigation.

ED summons Ranbir Kapoor for information on hawala transactions

ED also recently summoned Ranbir Kapoor, presumably for the same case. However, as per News18, Ranbir was not there as an accused but to know the methods of transactions. Ranbir will be questioned on Friday, October 6, and thus, many details are expected to be revealed.

Furthermore, ED is also working with Interpol to issue a red corner notice against Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal. ED is taking strides to book and deport the masterminds back to India for further criminal proceedings.
