FIFA games have been around for a long time and have been loved by the competitive and casual players alike. The game has gained a lot of fans since the launch back in 1993 and has even had big eSports tournaments organized on a regular basis.

Recently the developers of FIFA, Electronic Arts have announced that FIFA 23 will be the last installment to the current roster of the fifa games. The main reason for that is the current contract between FIFA and EA which started back in 2013 is set to expire on 31st December 2022 and “an extension seems a bit out of question as current deal in an impediment,” said Andrew Wilson, CEO of electronic arts.

EA will transfer about 850 million euros as a payment under the fifa 2013 – 2023 contract, however, FIFA is demanding almost double the amount if the renewal of contract is to take place. This makes the FIFA 23 the last fifa title but EA have announced it will be moving on making its own football game called “EA Sports FC”.

In response to EA announcing its own football game, fifa also announced that it will be releasing their own football game to rival EA. “I can assure you that the only authentic, real game that has the FIFA name will be the best one available for gamers and football fans,” fifa president Gianni Infantino said in a statement.

FIFA 23 is now the 30th game released by EA and over the years, have received a lot of praise as well as criticism from the community due to their business practices. There have been a lot of dedicated players who love and play fifa. It is now the second football game after PES to lose its name. Players are hopeful for the new re-branded FIFA but only time will tell about its success.
