Games24x7 makes strategic investment in CricHeroes

Multi-game platform Games24x7 has made a strategic investment in CricHeroes, a performance analysis platform focused on the grassroots cricket ecosystem, the companies said on Wednesday. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Launched in 2016 as a scorekeeping app for grassroots cricketers, CricHeroes now has more than 9 million registered users and scores of more than 1.5 million matches. Emerging players are using their statistics from the CricHeroes app for various official tournaments.

“We are excited for Games24x7 to join our endeavor in building a platform for millions of passionate cricketers, recognizing their talent and making them better with performance analytics,” said Abhishek Desai, founder of CricHeroes.

Rahul Tewari, chief financial officer, Games24x7 commented, “Our daily fantasy sports offering has been focused on the top of the pyramid. This investment will be synergistic as it will help Games24x7 reach the bottom of the pyramid in cricket and drive its mission of extending awesome game-playing experiences to more and more sports enthusiasts.”

“It’s the defacto app of scoring and they have also introduced video streaming service for the matches. This part of the market, which has historically not been digitized, is being served by CricHeroes. The investment will be used for product development, hiring talent, and user acquisition. Going forward, Games24x7 is looking to acquire and make strategic investments in the European and North American markets in the gaming technology and content space,” he added.

The Ahmedabad-based company is digitizing cricket at the state and district level as well and emerging players are using their statistics from the CricHeroes app for various official tournaments. The company has already established strong credibility by partnering with 50+ BCCI State Cricket Associations and ICC Affiliated Members Countries.

“With this fund, we aim to create a highly engaged community and bring some interesting technology solutions for grassroots cricket in the coming years,” said Kuntal Shah, cofounder of the Ahmedabad-based company.

Cricket is rapidly evolving as a data-driven sport with an increasing focus on performance analysis, scouting, and grooming talent.
