A total of 4000+ delegates, including game developers, publishers, investors, and gaming aficionados, attended the 14th edition of The India Game Developer Conference (IGDC). After an absence of two years the conference took place at the Hyderabad International Convention Center from November 3 to 5, 2022.

The IGDC is a unique “by the industry, for the industry” effort that is entirely dedicated to assisting and equipping game creators with knowledge, professional development, and networking opportunities with investors and game publishers.

The three-day conference featured roughly 80+ sessions covering games technology, art, design, and production, with 150 speakers, including 40 from overseas.

CXO panels were also held at the conference to talk about the state of the Indian gaming business, investment patterns, and their outlook for the future. Around 75 startups, 28 investors, and publishers participated in the Investor-Publisher Connect, the IGDC’s premier networking event, which attracted the most participants ever. Over 600 meetings were held over the course of two days.

Additionally, the IGDC Awards saw a record-breaking 150+ game submissions, and a new category called Popular Choice piqued audience interest and made the awards presentation quite engaging.

On Day 3 of the Conference, a brand-new programme dubbed IGDC Futures was introduced. The sessions were centered on prospects in the gaming industry with the goal of attracting the next generation of talent to the sector.

“GDC 2022 has exceeded all expectations as we made our on-ground appearance for the first-time post pandemic. It was heartening to see the tremendous turnout and participation from all parts of the gaming ecosystem, people clearly wanted to meet in person and network,” said Rajesh Rao, Convenor and Chairperson of IGDC.

“This year saw a record number of meetings between investors, publishers and startups. Key trends included seeing a number of upcoming games with Indian themes, with local cultural and social flavor. IGDC Awards saw a jump in overall quality of submissions,” he added.

Many prominent companies like Unreal Engine, Rockstar Games, Nazara Technologies, Winzo, Games24x7 and many more backed IGDC 2022 as sponsors and partners.
