Krafton, the makers of Battlegrounds Mobile India, the Indian version of popular game PUBG, today announced that Indian players will be able to qualify for the official e-sports program of the 2022 Asian Games from Battlegrounds Mobile India.

Earlier, questions were raised on Indian players eligibility to participate in the Asian Games as the global version of PUBG is not available in India. The global version was banned in 2020 in the background of border clashes with China.

The Games will run from September 10th to September 25th, 2022, with competitors from across Asia competing for the medals.

The Games will be hosted in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China. The list of titles announced in September include names of FIFA, Dota 2, PUBG Mobile, and League of Legends.

The South Korea-based company recently incorporated an Indian subsidiary and has been investing aggressively in the development of Indian gaming, e-sports, and IT entertainment industries. In July this year, Krafton invested $48 million in Pratilipi, an Indian storytelling platform.
