Madhya Pradesh: Head constable suspended after his gambling video goes viral

Published on:

A video of a Betul Police head constable gambling went viral on social media platforms recently. The officer was suspended for his actions after the police department took cognizance of the matter.

As per the details, head constable Vijay Raghuvanshi, posted in Betul Kotwali, was seen in a viral video gambling with some other individuals. The head constable is seen distributing cards and also putting Rs 100 notes at stake. He is also wearing his uniform.

The concerned official has been suspended after the video goes viral

The video is said to be from the Sadar area in Betul. The video was made secretly by one of the individuals present in the vicinity and uploaded it on social media platforms.

After the video surfaced, the senior officials have taken stringent action and suspended the official concerned.

In a much bigger case that occurred in 2021, a total of 16 cops were suspended in Gujarat for alleged negligence on duty, as they did not know the illegal betting establishment that had been operating right under their noses.

“Inspector R I Jadeja, a sub-inspector, and 14 members of the D-staff or surveillance team of Dariyapur police station have been suspended for negligence in duty, as they failed to have any knowledge about such a massive gambling den operating in their jurisdiction,” assistant commissioner of police (ACP), F-division, J K Zala had said at the time.

The action was taken following a suspension order issued by the Ahmedabad police commissioner.

Not only this but several cases have also been seen in the past where the officials who are bound to stop such illegal activities, aid such illegal establishments in return for some monetary favours.

Several individuals have asked for strict laws against the government and law officials to punish them if they are found aiding such illegal gambling practices and tarnishing the reputation of their department.
