MS Dhoni says “Game Badal Do” in WinZo ad

Social gaming platform WinZO has launched a new campaign ‘game badal do’ featuring Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The campaign intends to inspire the users to fuel their passion to the next level to unlock their true potential and achieve success. The ad-campaign conceptualized by Ogilvy comprises five sketches conceptualised by Piyush Pandey of Ogilvy and WinZO. The sketches have characters drawing inspiration from Dhoni’s journey and see him promoting WinZO.

WinZO is a social gaming and entertainment platform launched in early 2018, the company hosts games on their android app in partnership with third-party developers, allowing users to access and personalise multiplayer gameplay. The platform offers users access to content in 12 languages such as English, Hindi, Telugu, Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali, and Bhojpuri.

Piyush Pandey, chairman of global creative and executive chairman, Ogilvy India, said, “Working with two extremely like-minded entities like WinZO and MSD who propagate the same values of resilience, excellence and winning, truly enhanced the creative process and its result is evident in the campaign. Ogilvy is very excited to be a part of this campaign involving the game changers, WinZO and MSD, and confident that the idea of changing the game and achieving success will be well received and thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.” In July last year, WinZO raised $65 million in its Series C round, led by California-based Griffin Gaming Partners, a global gaming fund.

WinZO has signed multiple partnerships with mass value properties in order to enhance its reach among the young audience. Before announcing the signing of Dhoni, WinZO had announced bringing onboard YouTube influencers CarryMinati and Bhuvan Bam as the brand’s digital brand ambassadors. In addition, the company also announced its association as the sports brand partner with the movie ‘83.’

WinZO Sports, an e-sports and fantasy arm of social gaming company WinZO, this month has entered into a long-term partnership as the principal sponsor of Kolkata Knight Riders. Apart from featuring in WinZO Sports’ marketing campaign, the Knight Riders will soon be seen interacting with WinZO Sports’ users across social media platforms. In December 2021, the company has partnered with Future Group-owned, Bengal Warriors and, Adani Group’s Gujarat Giants for the Vivo Pro Kabaddi League’s (PKL) Season 8

Having raised $65 million in a Series C funding round in September 2021, the gaming company is on a partnership spree. Earlier, WinZO announced a partnership with Asphalt developer Gameloft. The gaming company also partnered with Kalaari Capital to launch an investment initiative Gaming Lab to encourage and support the gaming ecosystem in the country. The Gaming Lab will invest up to $1 million in each of the investee companies across all forms of interactive apps in India.  In September 2021, the company launched a standalone game developer fund with a corpus of $20 million.
