Nazara Technologies partners with nCore to launch FAU-G: Domination

Nazara Technologies’ publishing wing today announced a partnership with Vishal Gondal’s nCore to launch FAU-G: Domination, a new made-in-India multiplayer shooter game. This collaboration marks a new addition to the portfolio of Nazara Publishing.

FAU-G: Domination is the latest installment in the FAU-G franchise, which has already achieved nearly 50 million downloads. Nazara Publishing will handle the marketing and distribution of the game, with pre-registrations opening on Google Play and the App Store later this year.

“Made-in-India games have a huge potential to address the growing needs of the Indian gamer with locally relevant content, and we are excited to partner with nCore to bring FAU-G: Domination to all our players,” said Nitish Mittersain, founder of Nazara Technologies, in a statement.

Developed by Dot9 Studios, a gaming studio backed by nCore, FAU-G: Domination features modern-day military aesthetics with Indian characters, each having unique backstories. The game is a 5v5 multiplayer shooter, meaning two teams of five players will compete against each other in intense shooting matches. It will launch with multiple team and one-man-army modes, including various maps that reflect India’s rich heritage, combining cultural pride with cutting-edge gameplay.

“FAU-G: Domination is our humble response to PM Modi’s Make-in-India call, and we’re thankful that Nazara shares our vision to bring the best of India to the world. This signals India’s arrival as a major player in the global gaming industry,” said nCore co-founder Vishal Gondal.

As reported by Money Control, Dot9 Studios has developed FAU-G: Domination from the ground up using a different engine, game technology, story, and multiplayer options compared to previous titles in the FAU-G franchise. “Gaming is for everyone, and FAU-G: Domination is our effort in making that a reality,” added Deepak Ail, co-founder of Dot9 Studios.

Established in 2021 by Deepak Ail, Srinivasan Veeraraghavan, Kaiwan Yezdani, and Prasad Ramdas, Dot9 Studios has previously developed titles such as ‘Ram Setu – The Run’, an endless runner inspired by the Akshay Kumar-starrer film Ram Setu, and Apna Games, a casual gaming app offering classic games like Ludo, Carrom, and Cricket.

Nazara Technologies launched its publishing unit in October 2023 to explore India’s potential as a global gaming hub. The company plans to launch up to 20 games across mobile, web3, virtual reality (VR), and personal computer (PC) over the next 12-18 months, with investments ranging between Rs 1 crore and Rs. 3 crore per game. The platform provides developers with end-to-end solutions, including market access, distribution, marketing, monetization strategies, localization, culturalization, and advanced analytics.

In December 2023, Nazara Publishing unveiled its first set of five games from four Indian studios, covering various genres. Additionally, in August 2023, Nazara acquired exclusive rights to publish titles from Israel-based Snax Games in the Indian subcontinent and the Middle East on a revenue-sharing basis for five years. The company has earmarked a $100-million fund for expansion over the next 24 months as of March 2024.

The partnership between Nazara Technologies and nCore to launch FAU-G: Domination further demonstrates the development of India’s gaming industry and its role in the global market.
