OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G: How good is this budget phone for gaming?

Published on:

The recently released OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G has emerged as a great alternative to its predecessor at almost the same price. The new CE 3 Lite features a better and durable display along with upgraded cameras, both front and back, and comes with superfast charging.

The CE 3 Lite comes with Corning Gorilla Glass, which was previously not available in the CE 2 Lite version. While both the devices sport a 120 Hz LCD screen, CE 3 Lite can reach up to 680 nits in brightness, and the Gorilla Glass is a nice addition for better screen protection.

Compared to the previous model, the new one comes fitted with stereo speakers that can boost volume up to 200%. The OS and the Android version (Android 13 with OxygenOS) are similar in both devices. The previous variant needs to be updated while the new one already comes with it.

Talking about the biggest upgrade, the CE 3 Lite comes with a Samsung HM6 108MP sensor for the back camera along with 2+2MP depth and macro camera, which serves as a great upgrade for those who love to take pictures. The front camera is untouched for both models and sports 16MP.

The CE 2 Lite came with two options for RAM, one was 6GB/128GB and the other one being 8GB/128GB. The CE 3 Lite, however, comes with 8GB of RAM regardless of the storage version you choose. Be it 128GB of storage or 256GB, both models come with 8GB of RAM.

Is the phone good enough for gaming?

OnePlus is known for its premium releases and great gaming experience. The new CE 3 Lite has the same Snapdragon 695 5G processor as the CE 2 Lite, but for a very good reason.

The 5G connectivity is a must especially in 2023 when telecom companies are rolling out 5G services rapidly. The other brands with Snapdragon processors will simply raise the price for the device way too high where it will not give price-to-performance benefit, especially if it a budget category phone.

To make sure players get maximum game time, the phone comes with a 5000mAh battery and with a 67w VOOC fast charge with the company claiming it can reach 80% charge in 30 minutes.

There are also a few downgrades to keep the price under Rs 20,000. These include the use of Bluetooth 5.1 compared to 5.2 which was there in the previous model and the removal of WiFi-Direct, but seriously, when was the last time you used them?

Both models are core editions that rate highly on the price-to-performance ratio without compromising on performance. The upgrades provide a lot of value for a slight increase in price, and the downgraded features do not really matter or affect performance for gaming.

While the device has just been released, you can still avail discounts and cashback on various credit cards. The OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G is currently available for Rs 19,999 here.
