Shivam Dube attends event for banned betting site’s surrogate Parimatch Sports

Published on:

In a recent move to promote their banned betting website through different means, Parimatch has partnered with Indian cricketer Shivam Dube and made him the brand ambassador of their new surrogate sports apparel brand, Parimatch Sports.

The company has provided many options to choose from, and all the clothes comes with Parimatch Sports branding. The parent company is banned from doing business in India and was recently banned by MeitY for tax evasion and offering illegal betting services. The new surrogate sports brand is assumed to be running all the same.

Being one of the most popular cricketers, it seems that Dube caught the eye of the illegal betting website. He has a stellar record in his cricket career and one of the most sought after players in recent times, as he plays for champion side Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.

Recently, on Thursday, June 22, the India cricketer also did an interview and while it was not particularly about the banned platform, the main sponsor seems to be Parimatch. The company has previously partnered with other celebrities, and most of the time the partnership seems to align with their needs.

In 2022, popular football franchise Bengaluru FC also announced a partnership with Parimatch News, another surrogate brand for Parimatch. Bengaluru FC is one of the most popular teams in the Indian Super League and star footballer Sunil Chhetri also features for the side, and can influence many fans.

Parimatch under GST Intelligence’s radar

These partnerships are done in order to lure in more customers by making them believe that the brand their favourite celebrity is promoting is legal and safe, while it is the opposite in this case.

Back in April 2023, the Directorate General of GST Intelligence also went on a crackdown on Parimatch for tax evasion. According to reports, the police also booked a person who was believed to be a company official.

These brands are located offshore, and the government does not have jurisdiction to investigate and help out people who lost their money due to their shady transaction gateways and payment method. People who are unsure regarding the illegitimacy and banned apps information can check here.
