Popular media house MediaNama is hosting a discussion on draft online gaming rules in Delhi called ‘Impact of the Draft Online Gaming Rules’ on 13 January 2023 at Gulmohar hall, India Habitat Centre, Delhi.
The event aims to discuss several aspects of the new draft online gaming rules revealed by the Ministry for Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) for public consultation. The new rules are the first-ever attempt to resolve all regulatory conflicts.
One important thing to note is people will have to register in order to attend the event as it is an invite-only event as per the official announcement. Confirmations to invited people will be sent by 12 January.
According to MediaNama, the discussion will point out the strengths and weaknesses of the draft rules with an aim to improve them further to resolve the complex mess of rules in different states.
The event will be attended by various top industry leaders presenting their views on several important topics, like the affected platforms and the changes they have to make to comply with these rules.
Along with this, the discussion also aims to discuss how it will affect the current rules placed by different states on real-money online gaming and advertisements for them and how the rules will protect consumer rights during this process.
Several industry experts and politicians have already started expressing their opinions which will also be some of the important topics of discussion during the event. The company also said that people registering for the event could provide suggestions.
MediaNama is aiming for about 80-100 people coming together from various technological backgrounds with an interest in online gaming. People from regulatory executives from gaming companies, research organizations, think tanks, law firms, internet businesses and startups will also be among attendees.
