Season 5 of the Poker Sports League is just around the corner, and it has managed to gather some big firms as sponsors. The tournament will start on 22 July and will conclude on 20 August with a grand finale featuring a prize pool of Rs 1.5 crore.
Founder and CEO of Poker Sports League, Pranav Bagai, in his latest post, listed the current sponsors for the PSL that, included Pocket52 as the title sponsor as well as Jio as the tournament streaming partner.
The announcement for JioCinema as its official streaming partner was done back in May, with Bagai expressing his excitement for this year’s Poker Sports League. He said that since a majority of the users nowadays use OTT platforms, the partnership was a natural fit to provide the best possible experience of live poker to users.
Jio also acquired the right to stream IPL 2023 and saw a huge viewership. The numbers easily suggest the growth of OTT platforms in recent days. IPL 2023 also increased the user base for the real money gaming sector in India.
A report by Redseer revealed that fantasy sports platform saw a 24% increase in gross gaming revenue compared to last year. The number of new users were also estimated to be the highest for this year.
Players will qualify for the tournament through Pocket52. The top 1000 players in the leaderboard will get a chance to win Rs 50 lakh, while the top 36 players will secure their spot in one of the six teams’ auctions, which will take place in Goa in a few days.
While the qualifiers were held online and the virtual matches from 22nd Jul to 10th August will follow the same format, players will have to face each other at a live location during the grand finals taking place from 16th and 20th August.
