PokerMatch launches in India in partnership with Playtech, offers games of chance

Published on:

One of the biggest online gaming platforms in eastern Europe, PokerMatch, has made its way to the Indian market. The Indian entity is known as PokerMatch India and it has been launched in partnership with Playtech, an online gaming software company. An ever-increasing pool of players and the fastest growing online gaming market could be the reasons for the company’s move to begin operations in India.

Speaking on the launch, Ruslan Bangert, CEO of PokerMatch International, said, “We at PokerMatch are very excited and thrilled today. Partnering with an industry giant like Playtech is an event that will be remembered for a lifetime and will definitely be one of our major achievements.”

“Our company is only six years old, and we are happy to have been able to build our processes in such a short time and in such a way that large international corporations seriously consider cooperating with us. The credit goes to the whole team. I wish success to our new alliance and thank our colleagues at Playtech for easy, fast, and professional communication,” Bangert added, as quoted by Poker Guru.

The company also announced their partnership with popular poker tournament called MatchIPL. According to the announcement, the top players in PokerMatch India will get a chance to qualify for the fifth season of MatchIPL that will start from February 2023.

It is to be noted that PokerMatch India is also offering games of chance such as andar bahar, teenpatti, roulette, slots and others which amount to gambling/betting. Moreover, the company is not registered in India and does not have office locations in the country. Offshore online gaming companies are not allowed to operate in India. As a result, their entire India operations can be regarded as illegal.

Games of chance are not considered as legal activities and so are banned by several states. The recent draft rules proposed by MeitY also state that all online gaming companies need to register their offerings in order to conduct business in India.

Several offshore companies are now targeting India due to the large size of the market for online gaming, especially skill-based games like poker and rummy. India is also dubbed as the fastest growing gaming market in Asia by experts and analysts.
