Skyesports, a global IP builder for gaming and esports, has concluded the Skyesports Showdown, an open-for-all Counter-Strike 2 tournament. Teams from across India participated, aiming for the top spot. Carnival Gaming emerged as the champions after a series of qualifiers and playoffs.
Carnival Gaming, a new team in the Counter-Strike 2 scene, marked its first major victory in this tournament. The team members include Jaspreet “SpawN” Singh, Vishwesh “CycloneF” Waradkar, Garvit “Ember” Nehra, Piyush “clouda” Kalwania, and “Rider.”
The tournament was sponsored by LG UltraGear™, with AMD as the “Powered by” sponsor. Carnival Gaming had a journey through the Open Qualifiers but faced tough competition in the Playoffs. They won their first playoff game against Marcos Gaming 2-0 but lost to True Rippers 2-1 in a best-of-three series. However, Carnival Gaming won in the lower bracket with a 2-0 win against Victores. In the Grand Finals, they faced True Rippers again and secured a 2-0 victory, claiming the championship.
Jaspreet “SpawN” Singh of Carnival Gaming commented on their journey, saying, “Our start was rough because our roster was made up of players from different teams. So the mentality and synergy we had towards the game were different and it took us a while to adapt. A lot of people said that our roster wouldn’t work. But, within a month, we have been able to win this tournament.”
Carnival Gaming won INR 70,000 of the INR 100,000 prize pool. The team is now preparing for the India Qualifier for the Skyesports Championship 2024, which will feature an on-ground event with a $200,000 prize pool and teams from around the world.
