Charanjot Singh tops FIFAe South Asia seeding round for Asian Games 2022

Charanjot Singh, one of India’s top FIFAe players who is representing the country at the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games 2022, has secured the top seed in South Asia after defeating players from Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka from his bracket.

The matches were fairly intense with Charanjot beating Sameer Gurung (Nepal) and Dishan Sheruban Nithianathan (Sri Lanka) with an identical scoreline of 2:1. He then defeated Oytijjho Al Aff Tajwar Majumder of Bangladesh with a 2:0 score, securing the top position in his group at the seeding event.

“I had put in long hours of practice and strategizing in order to prepare for my opponents, and I am glad that it all worked to perfection. The level of competition at the Asian Games will be fierce, but I have full faith in my abilities. I will be giving my all to bring home a medal,” Charanjot said as quoted by Sportstar.

Another Indian FIFAe player Karman Singh Tikka secured a berth at the Asian Games, finishing fifth in the seeding round.

India is taking part in a total of four esports titles. These include League of Legends, FIFA Online 4, Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, and DOTA 2.

Earlier, the Indian League of Legends team also secured the top spot in their seeding round by securing wins against Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.

On the other hand, the Indian DOTA 2 team secured second position in their seed round while Ayan Biswas and Mayank Prajapati playing Street Fighter V: Champion Edition secured fifth and sixth positions in their group.

The upcoming Asian Games 2022 will start from September 23 with several top players from the continent facing each other in various esports titles. The event category has created so much of interest that the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has added esports as a medal event again for Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
