Famous footballers to join COD roster; confirms Activision Blizzard

The rumours about famous footballers in Call of Duty (COD) Modern Warfare is now officially confirmed by Activision Blizzard. The company recently announced that three famous international football players will be joining the COD operator list.

In a picture of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 gear, the players’ identities and numbers were shared on the official Call of Duty Twitter account. Lionel Messi, Paul Pogba, and Neymar are the three athletes currently who will appear as operators.

There have been no announcements on when the football players will be available as operators in the game or how will people playing the game be able to obtain them but guessing from the past COD collabs with other franchises like The Terminator Bundle, it is safe to assume that they will probably be purchasable from an in-game shop for COD points.

This crossover with Messi, Pogba, and Neymar makes a lot of sense because they all have large fan bases. With the FIFA World Cup commencing in late November, it’s also a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and perhaps entice some soccer enthusiasts who might not otherwise buy the game to do so.

This crossover will also seem like a way for Activision Blizzard to get more views on their sponsored COD streams, as the streamers will have more content to play around with, and it might interest people who watch them in buying in-game cosmetics.

Activision Blizzard previously have done a crossover with other celebrities like Snoop Dogg, which the players very well received as they get to play with their favourite singer, and their company might be aiming for the same thing this time too.

Not every operator from the leak have been announced yet, but currently, the three football players announced are still enough to get the people excited. Pogba and Neymar have already tweeted about the announcement on their twitter accounts.
