Krafton India to launch exciting titles by year-end

Published on:

Developer for some of the most popular mobile gaming titles, Krafton India has announced its plans to add new games to its roster by the end of 2023.

Krafton India has already developed games like Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), Road to Valor: Empires and Defense Derby. The Indian Govt recently unbanned BGMI, and allowed the game with several changes in the format.

As per Financial Express, Krafton India’s CEO, Sean Hyunil Sohn said, “We have a few games in our publishing pipeline. We have not finalised the decision. I think there could be one or two games we could launch within this year.”

During the recent CII event, Sohn also suggested the government to step in and help promote the industry like other countries. With India being a heavily mobile gaming focused market, the growth will be substantially faster, according to Sohn.

While Krafton’s games are very well-received, BGMI is the most popular game among the bunch in India. The game crossed over 40 million downloads in just six weeks after unban.

Krafton to invest $150 million in gaming startups

Like many others, Krafton India also believes in the potential of the Indian gaming sector. In fact, it recently announced a $150 million investment commitment for Indian gaming startups over the next two-to-three years.

The investment will be equally divided among the existing companies that are looking to expand. Tech and AI companies and new-age gaming startups are the key areas of focus for the company currently. Notably, the company has already invested in several gaming firms already including NODWIN Gaming, Loco, Nautilus Mobile, etc.

Krafton has also hosted many esports tournaments and events in India. The company recently partnered with JioCinema to provide live matches to players across the country for BGMI Series 2023.
