Skyesports, a prominent organizer in India’s esports scene, has announced the comeback of the highly anticipated Skyesports Champions Series (SCS) 2024. This event, centered around the popular mobile game Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), features a substantial INR 10 Lakhs prize pool. The tournament is set to be powered by leading semiconductor manufacturer AMD, promising an elevated gaming experience for participants. Additionally, EliteHubs has been revealed as the e-commerce platform for the tournament.

Following the remarkable success of the 2023 edition of the Skyesports Champions Series – BGMI, which attracted a peak concurrent viewership of 131,000, Skyesports aims for a larger format in 2024. This time, the tournament will be inclusive, allowing players from all over the country to compete through open qualifiers.

Expressing his excitement for the upcoming event, Shiva Nandy, the Founder and CEO of Skyesports, stated, “We are thrilled to announce the return of the Skyesports Champions Series with BGMI. With open qualifiers and an exciting format, this year’s edition promises higher stakes and more thrilling esports action for fans.”

According to Lumikai’s State of India Gaming Report FY23, the gaming industry in India has seen significant growth, with revenue surpassing $3.1 billion in FY23 and projected to reach $7.5 billion by FY28. With more gamers transitioning from casual to mid-core and hardcore games, the esports industry in the country is poised for substantial organic growth.

The tournament structure involves registered teams navigating through qualifiers, with the top 18 advancing to the semifinals. Additionally, six teams have received direct invitations based on their past performance, including Blind Esports, iQOO Soul, Revenant Esports, Orangutan Esports, Gods Reign, and GodLike.

The semifinals will feature 24 teams divided into three groups (A, B, and C), competing from February 27 to March 3. The top 16 teams will then secure their spots in the SCS 2024 Finals. Scheduled as an online event from March 5 to 10, the Grand Finals will witness intense battles in BGMI as the qualifying teams vie for the championship title.

The Skyesports Champions Series has established itself as one of the organization’s flagship esports IPs. Initially launched in 2022 with VALORANT, the tournament has evolved, with the 2023 edition focusing on BGMI and achieving significant viewership. The 2024 edition promises to be even bigger, with a broader format, increased community engagement opportunities, and captivating esports action.
