Published on:

Entrepreneur Ashneer Grover recently launched CrickPe, a fantasy cricket and gaming platform, on Thursday, March 23. The app is launched under the parent company, Third Unicorn Pvt. Ltd. Apart from Ashneer, the co-founding team also includes his wife Madhuri Jain-Grover and Aseem Ghavri.

Since the launch of the app came just ahead of the commencement of the 16th edition of the IPL, arguably the biggest T20 league in the world, CrickPe’s latest advertisement was shared by Grover through his official Twitter handle. Interestingly, the ad features Grover himself. Incidentally, the former founder of BharatPe gained mass popularity after featuring as an expert on the famous TV show Shark Tank India (Season 1).

As per CrickPe’s claims, a set proportion of its revenues will be shared with the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) and cricketers, in an attempt to reward players for their performances.

The advertisement also attempts to convey the same, wherein an app user approaches the batsman in the middle of the stadium to congratulate him for his performance, and signs a cheque to reward him. The camera then zooms in towards the crowd, where Grover appears and shares details of how his platform also rewards players for their performances.

Although CrickPe will have a stiff competition from the existing players in the fantasy sports industry, the unique model to reward players might excite a huge chunk of potential users for the app. And with never-ending cricketing action, players will also be able to constantly compete and win big monies.

Speaking of the app’s model, 80 percent of the pool will be distributed to the winner(s), whereas, CrickPe will keep 10 percent as its platform fee and the remaining pool will be distributed to the BCCI and players as gifts.
