Delhi Police have raided an illegal casino operating near South Ganesh Nagar. The raid resulted in the arrest of five individuals involved in online gambling activities. The raid was carried out by the Special Staff in the East District, followed by a tip-off received on May 29, reported Web India123.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Apoorva Gupta reported that the operation took place near Mother Dairy in South Ganesh Nagar. Authorities seized Rs. 72,000 in cash, four computers, and a Wi-Fi dongle with a charger, all of which were believed to be used in unlawful gambling activities.
The police also arrested the casino’s operators, identified as Maninder, alias Ramble, and Ajit, along with three other individuals.
This raid follows a similar crackdown on April 30, when the Special Task Force of Delhi Police arrested three individuals for betting on an IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals. The suspects were identified as Pradeep Sharma alias Boby (33), Mohit Arora (35), and Mukesh Sharma (44). They were found with one laptop, six mobile phones, one LED TV, one router, and Rs. 20,500 in cash.
Last year Delhi Police busted a similar illegal casino operation in the city, where a casino was being operated in a farmhouse.
The police have registered a case under the Gambling Act at Krishna Nagar Police Station.
