Court extends remand for seven more days of four accused in Mahadev Book illegal betting racket

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) recently presented four, accused in Mahadev Book illegal betting case, at a court in front of Special Judge Ajay Singh Rajput. Judge Rajput heard both the parties’ arguments related to the case and gave orders. As per Rajput’s orders, the four accused will now be under ED’s custody till September 5.

During the court hearing, family members of the accused were present. Starting Tuesday, August 29, the ED has taken the arrested people on remand for a period of seven days for further interrogation.

As per Nai Dunia, the four arrested include ASI Chandrabhushan Verma, Satish Chandrakar, Anil Dammani and Sunil Dammani. ASI Verma used to take bribes and distribute it among other officers to slow down investigations against Mahadev Book app. Satish, on the other hand, is a close relative of mastermind of the operation, Saurabh Chandrakar.

ASI Verma has also filed assault charges against on ED personnel during arrest. The ED, meanwhile, has asked for more time to reply. ED’s counsel Saurabh Kumar Pandey has also reassured that investigation will be done against the charges through CCTV surveillance.

Special Judge Ajay Singh Rajput has directed ED while they are on remand. ASI Verma and Chandrakar have already revealed several names of many involved in Mahadev Book’s betting racket.

As per revelation made by the two, ED have sent summon notices to several people from police department and political parties for questioning on the illegal betting app. Further arrests in the matter are also expected.

The police have also issued lookout notices for a few others in the case who are currently absconding. Interrogations have revealed that the links of Mahadev Book illegal betting app are rooted deep in the police department.
