The mastermind of Mahadev Book illegal betting app Saurabh Chandrakar is reported to have received an extortion call recently from infamous gangster Lawrence Bishnoi who is currently lodged in Tihar Jail for murder. The call is alleged to have been made from a cell phone that Bishnoi acquired through unlawful means.

As per India Today, both Chandrakar and Bishnoi engaged in an heated argument where Chandrakar did not give in to his demands and told him categorically that he had influential connections that the gangster had no idea about.

The police suspects that Chandrakar has the backing of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s D-Company and has a Pakistani national as a partner. Incidentally, a similar illegal betting app is suspected to be operational in Pakistan, too.

This is not the first instance of Chandrakar receiving an extortion call from Bishnoi. As per The Times of India he received a similar call last year as well after the success party of the Mahadev Book app. Chandrakar has time and time hosted several celebratory parties. Most recently, he hosted a lavish wedding ceremony in the UAE in February of this year.

The police and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) are currently investigating the case. It is believed that Chandrakar’s illegal betting network has Dawood’s involvement, too. The ED has discovered that over Rs 200 crore were spent by him on his wedding out of which Rs 112 crore were transferred to an event management company in Mumbai through hawala channels. Several popular celebrities were also roped in to visit and perform at the wedding.

Meanwhile, another party was also planned to be held somewhere in India this week but due to the police and ED actions it now stands cancelled. It will now take place on a cruise ship on a smaller scale.

Notably, ED is set to summon the celebrities who attended the wedding along with others who promote the illegal Mahadev Book app.

With all the glitz and glamour of celebrations, it appears that Chandrakar has attracted the attention of not just the law enforcement agencies but also of other gangsters.
