Further investigations revealed that the celebrities were paid hefty amounts to attend and perform at the wedding. As per reports, Chandrakar spent over Rs 200 crore on the event.

Incidentally, celebrity presence at events related to illegal betting operators is not uncommon. In fact, several of these platforms hire them as brand ambassadors and invite them to attend or perform at their events.

Coming back to the Mahadev Book case, the ED recently raided several angadiya entities in Mumbai and uncovered that they were tasked with providing Rs 112 crore to an event management company in the city that took care of wedding arrangements.

The mastermind Saurabh Chandrakar and his partner Ravi Uppal already have a Red Corner Notice issued against them by the ED. Furthermore, several big operatives were also recently arrested and interrogated by the law enforcement authorities.

ED is also looking into Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel’s close aides and family members for possible links with the illegal betting network. Baghel’s political advisor Vinod Verma and his family members have also been interrogated.

Further investigation into the matter is ongoing. The ED is looking for other possible suspects based on the information obtained from the arrested individuals.
