More than 15 arrested for illegal gambling across Rajasthan, Goa

Seven people have been arrested by Khunkhuna police in a major operation against a betting syndicate from the town of Toshina in Nagaur district. The individuals arrested were part of one of the biggest betting gangs in Deedwana taking bets on cricket matches.

After receiving a tip off from an informant about the ongoing betting during a cricket match, the police reacted swiftly and reached the house of Madankanwar’s wife. On arriving, the police found seven people on the second floor taking bets in a notebook.

The cricket match between Abu Dhabi and Deccan Gladiators was being broadcast live on two laptops while information about various cricket match statistics and potential outcomes was being exchanged with various persons through mobile phones, laptops and other electronic devices.

The police seized four laptops, one tablet phone, 30 mobile phones and two diaries which were being used to record bets. A whopping amount of cash totaling to Rs 62 lakh was also seized along with other things.

Following the conclusion of the cricket match, it was discovered that financial transactions were made based on the profit and loss of the parties involved.

Seven bookies who were involved in gambling were arrested on the basis of online transactions that were totaling to lakhs of rupees. Rajesh Kumar, inspector at Didwana police station, has been given the charge of the investigation after a case was filed against the bookies.

Goa

The Margao town police raided a gambling den at Aquem, Margao last Wednesday and arrested 10 people involved in illegal online gambling. Around Rs. 3 lakh worth of cash and equipment were seized during the raid.

Shivalingappa Ganachari, a resident of Fatorda and a native of Solapur, Maharashtra who was also caught in the raid was found out to be the mastermind behind the online gambling activity and used the ground floor shop of Supreme Park building as a gambling den.
