The Ramamurthy Nagar police in Bangalore have detained nine individuals for illegal gambling, authorities announced on Tuesday reported Deccan Herald.

On May 2, police received a tip-off that a group of 10 to 12 men were engaged in gambling activities near Kalkere. Acting on this information, the police registered a non-cognizable report (NCR) and sought court permission to conduct a raid. Just 2 days back a similar gambling raid was reported in Raigarh in Chattisgarh.

Following the court’s approval, the Ramamurthy Nagar police raided the location, detaining nine suspects and recovering Rs. 70,000 in cash and a deck of cards from the scene.

“The nine suspects were released after being issued a notice of appearance under Section 41A of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC),” a police officer stated. “Further investigations are underway.”

The police continue to investigate the incident to uncover more details about the gambling operation and identify any additional individuals involved. Recently the Turf Club in Bangalore has been the centre for police raids for illegal betting.
