Police raid uncovers gambling ring in Raigarh, five arrested

At Raigarh district in Chattisgarh, Kharsia Police, led by Sub-Inspector Sanjay Kumar Nag, conducted a raid based on a tip-off. The raid occurred during a routine night patrol on 4th June, reported JantaSeRishta.

The raid took place at Matkhanwa Talabpar in Kharsia, where individuals were found engaging in illegal gambling at a public location.

The police arrested five gamblers identified as:

  1. Ajit Jaiswal (24), son of Santosh Jaiswal, resident of Turibhatha, Kharsia.
  2. Danish Khan (23), son of Anwar Khan, resident of Ganjpiche, Kharsia.
  3. Rahul Rathore (28), son of the late Vijay Rathore, resident of Sapurani Basti, Kharsia.
  4. Jai Sarathi (30), son of Rajesh Sarathi, resident of Hamalpara, Naya Mohalla, Kharsia.
  5. Gulshan Sahu (33), son of Rajendra Sahu, resident of Ganjpiche, Kharsia.

The police confiscated a total of ₹5250 in cash, 52 playing cards, and a plastic sheet from the gambling den. The arrested individuals were taken into custody under Section 3(2) of the Chhattisgarh Gambling (Prohibition) Act at Kharsia Police Station.

The raid team included Sub-Inspector Sanjay Kumar Nag, Head Constable Shankar Singh Kshetri, Constables Kirti Sidar, Sohan Yadav, Damrudhar Patel, Sawil Chandra, and Constable Somnath Patel.

Chhattisgarh has also been at the centre of the Mahadev App case, with multiple illegal gambling operations in the state revealed to be connected with the case.
