OnePlus Nord 3: Is this the best mid-range smartphone for gaming?

Published on:

The OnePlus Nord 3 comes as a new competitor in the mid-range flagship mobile gaming scene with a competitive price and several in-demand features. Packed with one of the latest Mediatek processors, the phone enters the arena with the best price-to-performance ratio among gaming devices.

Specifications

The phone features a 4 nm Mediatek Dimensity 9000 processor which is a huge upgrade for people looking to play games on the device. The processor is aided by 128 GB or 256 GB of storage with an option for 8 GB or 16 GB of DDR5 RAM.

What good a new flagship processor is if the phone is not stretched to its potential? The Nord 3 comes with a 10-bit 120 Hz fluid AMOLED display with 1450 nits brightness. Most of the mobile games, however, are optimized for 60 Hz but the phone makes sure it stays at maximum all the time.

To back up the superfast display and the processor, the phone comes with a 5000 mAh battery and even if gamers manage to drain it quickly, the phone comes with a 80w fast charge that provides over 90% battery in 30 mins charge.

The main camera features a 50 MP Sony IMX890 with optical image stabilization that can record 4k videos, and two more below it with ultrawide and macro operations. This provides a wide array of photography options.

For camera and videography lovers, the phone might also be worth picking up as the 50 MP camera takes some crisp shots and even features 4K 60fps recording even in low light with AI noise reduction.

Looks and features

Despite being in the mid-range category for One Plus, the company did not let that get in the way of how the phone is designed. The Gorilla Glass 5 glass finish and the smooth edges, along with small bezels on the screen, provide a premium look similar to other models.

The screen is also a bit large compared to old models and thanks to thin bezels, it looks even larger. It rocks a protection of Dragontrail Glass, but people are advised to use a screen guard as it is similar to Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

The cameras are also designed with camera bumps, keeping the current trend in mind. On customization side, the phone comes with Android 13 packed in Oxygen OS 13 and provides new gestures and on-screen customization.

While OnePlus has done an excellent job to target the gaming audience with this smartphone, it seems like the device will give tough competition to the recently launched iQOO Neo 7 Pro.

The OnePlus Nord 3 is available here for Rs .
