More than 15 arrested for illegal gambling across Bhopal, Bengaluru

Six gamblers were arrested by Crime Branch Bhopal while pretending to play carrom close to Regiment Road Military Gate and also seized Rs 14,740 in cash from them.

A team from the Bhopal Crime Branch was assembled after getting the information and sent to the location. The police station informed the team that Dinesh was engaging in illegal gambling while pretending to play carrom close to Regiment Road Military Gate.

The team conducted a raid at a location where some people were seen betting and gambling. Six suspects had a combined total of Rs 14,740 in cash, and credit cards were seized as well. All the accused were arrested and a case was filed under the Gambling Act.

The six accused were identified as Afsar Ali, Narendra Lal, Sohail Shaikh, Firoz, Dinesh and Afzal.

In another raid in the city, the Gautam Nagar police detained 10 gamblers near the Lodhi Samaj Ram temple and seized Rs. 16,200 and playing cards on Saturday.

After obtaining information, police proceeded quickly to raid a gambling establishment where they discovered 10 people placing bets. The apprehended suspect was found to be in possession of playing cards and a total of Rs 16,200 in cash.

The 10 people were identified as, Piyush Dupare, Nahid Khan, Parvez Khan, Rafiq Khan, Shahid, Brijendra Kethbas, Tofiq, Bablu Miyan, Rashid and Raju Singh.

Bengaluru

On Monday, agents of the Central Crime Branch busted a cricket betting ring and arrested three bookmakers who were using a smartphone app to conduct their business. A team searched two locations in Mahadevapura on the basis of a tip-off, apprehended the suspects, and seized Rs 10.5 lakh from them.

The accused were taking bets from online gamblers on the England and Pakistan matches. One bookie managed to flee during the raid, search operations by the police are currently underway to find him.

Additionally, the police have taken three of the accused’s mobile phones and are examining the call logs to determine their network.
