Skill Online Games Institute (SOGI) has announced the addition of Dr. Yatan Pal Singh Balhara to its advisory board. Dr. Balhara, known for his expertise in mental health and addictive disorders, joins the institute in its mission to promote responsible gaming practices and support industry growth. He currently serves as the Secretary General of the World Association on Dual Disorders (WADD) and provides consultancy to prestigious organizations including the World Health Organization and UNODC. 

Dr. Balhara shared his enthusiasm for joining SOGI, emphasizing the importance of addressing the intersection of mental health and online gaming through collaborative efforts. He also said that he looks forward to working with SOGI members to advance responsible gaming practices and enhance the well-being of gamers worldwide.

Mr. Amrit Kiran Singh, Founder President of SOGI, expressed his satisfaction with Dr. Balhara’s appointment, highlighting the insights he brings to the institute’s efforts in supporting responsible gaming practices and addressing the industry’s challenges.

Dr. Balhara with experience spanning two decades, oversees the Dual Diagnosis Clinic and Behavioural Addictions Clinic at the All-India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), New Delhi. In his capacity at SOGI, Dr. Balhara will offer strategic guidance on mental health, addictive behaviors, and eHealth. His input will inform initiatives aimed at promoting a holistic approach to online gaming, prioritizing the well-being of players.

Other notable additions to SOGI’s advisory board earlier this year include Yashvardhan Sinha, IFS, Former Chief Information Commissioner of India, and Shivani Jha, a tech policy lawyer and leader of the E-Gamers & Players Welfare Association (EPWA).
