Sony’s much-anticipated State of Play event was met with mixed reactions from the fans after some lackluster announcements at the very last minute. The showcased event was headlined by the God of War Ragnarok’s gameplay and the first look at Tekken 8.

The show kicked off with a dramatic brawl between Kazuya and Jin Kazama of Tekken 8. While the details of the release were not shared, the highly anticipated eighth installment of the gaming series is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC soon.

A remake of the Yakuza spin-off Like a Dragon: Ishin! was also released at the event. The game will follow the original series set in 1860s Japan. The remake is the first game from RGG Studio that will use Unreal Engine 4 and is scheduled for a Feb. 21, 2023 release.

The event concluded with the eye-catching revelation of the highly anticipated God of War: Ragnarok, coming on November 9, 2022. The trailer featured an epic clash between fan-favourite protagonists Kratos and Thor. During its State of Play event, Sony also revealed a new controller themed after the game.

Here are all the highlights from Sony’s showcase event, which featured major announcements for ardent gamers across the globe.
