6 poker scandals that rocked the industry

Published on:

5. Pitbull Poker Scandal
Pitbull Poker was an online poker room that operated from 2004 to 2009. Although it was not a big name, it was one of the few sites that offered an instant-play site with good bonuses when the online poker scene was still in its inception.

Hence, players did not know what was coming and were willing to test it out. It was later found out that the website carried out pot shaving by collecting extra arbitrary amounts in addition to the usual rake. And when the scandal was out, and the players learnt about it, the site simply shut down and disappeared overnight, according to casino.org reports.

The manner in which they vanished was so sudden and unexpected that not even their employees at their had any idea about their shutting down. In fact, they were sent back home for a day without letting them know the actual reason for calling the day off. The employees came back the next day only to find those offices were empty.
