6 poker scandals that rocked the industry

6. Postlegate affair
Mike Postle, who was part of a poker game in Stones Gambling Hall in 2019, was on a roll, winning virtually everything regardless of what the setup was. Initially, it seemed as if his reading of the game was near impeccable, and commentator Justin Kelly marvelled at Postle’s brilliance, saying, “Postle is just like a freak!”. Kelly’s co-commentator Veronica Brill, however, did not share the same enthusiasm.

Brill accused Postle of cheating as she said on the livestream that it did not make sense. “It’s like he knows,” said Brill. And post the match, several players accused Postle of cheating, and the matters were taken to the court. The ‘Postlegate’, as it was called, continued for two years before Postle won the lawsuit for USD 30 million. Postle then sued his accusers for defamation before revoking it in 2021.
