Maharashtra: Panvel man loses Rs 5 lakh playing on Jungle Rummy

In a recent turn of events, a 55-year-old man from Panvel, Maharashtra on Wednesday, June 28, lost his life after losing Rs 5 lakh while playing Junglee Rummy, an online rummy platform. Unable to bear the debt-ridden losses, the man eventually took the hard step, and thus, was found hanging on a ceiling fan at his own residence.

This is not the first case in last one week that a person has lost money playing rummy on Junglee Rummy. The officials declared the man as already dead after they took him to the sub-district hospital.

He ran a water supply business, which, according to the city police, did not incur any form of loss. They did, however, found a suicide note. The man confessed incurring a huge loss in online gaming, which he was unable to pay back, according to a police officer.

The note further informed them of his debt due to taking a loan in order to win back the amount he lost playing online rummy on Junglee Rummy. A police official said that the man allegedly lost Rs 5 lakh while playing rummy, however, the exact amount is yet unknown.

As per a Free Press Journal‘s reports, the police official said, “The exact amount of loss in online gaming is not known. However, the initial probe found that he had lost around ₹5 lakh.

“In the note, the man admitted to having incurred a huge loss in online gaming. He was unable to repay the loan taken for the same,” the official further added.

Previously, a man from Nanded, Maharashtra wrote a letter to Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn on his promotion of Junglee Rummy regarding these incidents and asked how much he has won from the platform till date before the Singham star eventually promoted the platform.

The person talked about the rising cases of depression and suicide in young people in Maharashtra after losing money in online rummy. Several people try out the game after watching celebrities promote these platforms but end up losing more money than winning.

Another man from Shirdi, Maharashtra named Nilesh Gire also uploaded an Instagram reel claiming he lost his own vehicle after playing rummy on Junglee Rummy and is now driving another person’s vehicle as a driver.
