New rumours and speculations surrounding the Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) unban date are now circulating in the mobile gaming community after a person who claims to have knowledge of the matter said that the game will be back on January 15 when asked by a popular streamer.

During the livestream of “Alpha Clasher,” one of the top streamers in India, a person named predatorsasuke joined and while they were talking, predatorsasuke mentioned that he worked for Google and claimed to know the tentaive date for BGMI unban according to AFKGaming.

“You’d be very happy, BGMI will launch on Google Play Store on 15th January; it is a tentative date,” said predatorsasuke. When reminded that he might lose his job with such risky claims he said, “I haven’t told the exact launch date. I only said that the game shall launch before 15th January.”

Another streamer Hector also responded to the BGMI situation during a livestream saying, “The game is going to return in January, someone from Google said this. I don’t know this personally, but I have heard this. That person is someone important in the Google community; he is someone in a leadership position. It doesn’t matter if someone from the gaming community says that the game will return. That person said that the game would return on 15th January.”

BGMI was released as a substitute for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Mobile (PUBG) by Tencent and was banned in July 2022 under section 69A of the I.T. Act 2000. After the ban, there have been several speculations about the game’s return.

A person named GodYamrajOP filed an RTI in order to get more information about the situation and the reason for the ban. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) responded to the question saying, “MeitY had received requests through Designated Nodal Officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and have blocked BGMI under Section 69A of the IT Act, 2000.”

Meity also confirmed that a meeting took place with representatives of Krafton to discuss the issue but did provide any details about it. Even popular streamers like Scout were doubtful that the game would return before December 2022.

In a recent statement from Krafton as part of their Q3 2022 financial results declaration, the developer of BGMI said they were working on bringing back the game as soon as possible.
