4. Metro Series

Metro games are not your average horror games and while there are several other games that can be considered as better in the category, these provide a great single-player story experience with some of the best visuals and psychological horror.

The game is based on novels for Metro series. A gamer plays as Artyom, a solider living along the Metro lines of post-apocalyptic Moscow with the surface scorched with radiation and animals evolving into other worldly creatures. Along with that, there is another supernatural threat they have to survive from.

The game does a great job to set the scene of real apocalypse events, with players trading ammunition as currency in a place where everyone is trying to stay alive. One goes from one metro line to another, meeting a different group of survivors. The other parts of the games also follow up on the same character’s story and have alternate ending of sorts, so be aware of what you do inside the game.
