Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodiya, popularly known as Badshah – a Bollywood rapper and musician – was recently seen promoting illegal betting website FairPlay, despite several advisories being issued by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) asking public personalities to refrain from doing so. Notably, Badshah is a brand ambassador for FairPlay.

The Badshah-shared video began with him saying how people can make quick money in a world that is moving at a fast pace. Badshah took to his Facebook Story to collaborate with FairPlay, and stated how betting on FairPlay is better than conventional forms of investing, such as mutual funds and SIPs. He even mentioned that one cannot keep up to date with the economic conditions, but betting on the platform is a very safe and easy alternative to make money.

For the unversed, Badshah also went on to say that FairPlay is as good as any other class of investment, and is also easy to understand. Comparing the platform with other illegal betting sites in the country, he went on to add how their platform stands out from its competitors (such as Lotus365, 1XBET, etc.) in the market.

To allay the fear of the viewers, he also tried to lure them by saying that even if they lose, they would still get some amount back as refund, thereby minimizing their losses. While stock markets and mutual fund houses are highly regulated by Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), betting and gambling websites have been adjudged as illegal by the Government of India, through various advisories.

Other celebrities promoting illegal betting, too

Not only Badshah, but popular celebrities such as Ranbir Kapoor and Kiara Advani as well as sporting personalities like Sunil Narine, Mithali Raj, Saina Nehwal, and Eoin Morgan have also been involved with FairPlay through surrogate advertising, promoting the platform as a sports blog.

As the cricketing season has kicked off in the country, the illegal betting website has restarted running several ads on social media platforms as well as on YouTube. As a matter of fact, the above ad was recently seen before the start of a YouTube video.

Among many names that have been involved with the promotion and endorsement of illegal and offshore betting websites, Bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela has been one of the top names to have associated with the same alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Both of them have been promoting Lotus365 and received notices from the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) recently. Albeit, she continued her association by sharing a video on Instagram.
