The second seven-day Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody of four individuals booked in the Mahadev Book illegal betting app case ended on Tuesday, September 5. Consequently, the four accused were presented in the court of Special Judge Ajay Singh Rajput and sent to judicial remand till September 15.

The ED is said to have extracted useful bits of information from the four individuals in the custody period. Based on that, the agency interrogated Dr Dalla, director of Jubesta Hospital, for several hours on Sunday night, as per Naidunia.

Furthermore, the ED has also initiated the process of issuing a Red Corner Notice against Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, the information of which has also been relayed to Jharkhand, Telangana, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, MP, and Maharashtra, among other states.

Earlier, the ED had sent summon notices to the local addresses of both Chandrakar and Uppal which were not obeyed as they have been hiding in Dubai and operating the Mahadev Book app. from there.

Since the beginning of the whole operation, the state police has uncovered that several individuals are sent to and trained in Dubai following which they return to India in order to expand the network. However, despite several arrests, there appears to be no major impact on the illegal betting network.

It was then discovered that several insiders were helping the illegal activity after the police nabbed a key suspect named Naveen Batra. He revealed several names linked to the case. While the names were not made public, the ED conducted raids a few days later and booked several individuals.

Further ED investigation brought to light that several police officials were taking bribes to keep the activity running smoothly. ASI Chandrabhushan Verma received Rs 65 crore as bribe which he distributed among other police officials in return for dismissing cases relating to the illegal betting app.
